My hair is long and thick. Its been this way for years. So do you know how to make thick hair thinner???

I have the same kind of hair. Ask your stylist or lady and the salon to Texturize it with a special tool that looks like sissors. This will lighten the weight and thickness without having a ton of layers.

Layers

The only way I know is to cut it in many layers, that gives your hair more volume and makes it bouncy

Believe me, you don't want thinner hair.
Of course, you can get it from chemical damage and not taking care of your hair.

You can go to your stylist and have them thin it out. I did that a couple of years ago and it helped out alot.

I have the exact same problem. You may have to try several hairdressers before you find one that knows how to deal with your hair in a way that you like. Mine uses a combination of thinning shears %26amp; a razor to cut into layers. I've also found that a shorter hair style is easier for me, but the same techniques worked when my hair was long. Be patient %26amp; good luck!

go and get your hair thinned. The stylist will use thinng shears and will make sort of layers which will have th oppisite effect most people have. People with thin hair can get layers to add volume, but if you get it thinned it will decrease the weight of your hair

Many stylists have a "shearing" like tool that can be used to cut hair near your neck line. My friend has this done and it seems to work really well. I think length could also make a difference in this. If your hair were to be very long maybe it would weigh down some of the volume. I know this is the case with curly vs. straight hair but it might work for volume too. I think layering your hair would also (if not actually thin it) make it appear thinner.

okay, no matter what u do, do NOT thin your hair!!! listen to me and dont do that. i have very thick and long hair as well, and i love my hair when i straighten it, so i thought i would thin it, it looks good the first month, but later after it grows out u get the worst frizziest hair ever,,, do NOT thin it, please. it will ruin ur hair. ive been waiting more then a year now and it still has not grown back in!!! its horrible...and u get fly aways everywhere. just layer it and use hair straightners and thinning shampoo/ serum. but dont thin it at a salon!!! or anywhere!!!

They can thin it for you in a salon...they use special scissors that basically take clumps of hair from all over your head......if you have a lot of hair, it won't be noticable so don't worry about it....I have a lot of very thick curly hair and had it done a few summers ago....In the short term it was great, felt very light on my head, but I really don't recommend doing it. After a week or so, I really missed the bulky feel. Also, when growing back in, your hair will have a real awkward stage where you pretty much have to get it reshaped pretty often or just wear it up for a few months

layers will make your hair appear thicker than what it is... when you go to your stylist tell them that you would like to have your hair thinned out... make sure that you have a style in mind as well take along pictures of what you have in mind. I would also recomend going to a good salon ... this isnt something that you want the student at the beauty college to do ... remember you get what you pay for.

It depends if you have straight or curly hair. For curly hair you can try a relaxer to loosen up the curl and smoothe the cuticle. Have your hairdresser give you very long layers and taper the ends so that your hair doesn't stack. You can angle the sides to remove the weight around your face. For straight hair you can try cutting in layers to remove bulk and again angle the sides if the layers don't do the job to lessen the weight around your face. A razor cut on thick straight hair could work. Not sure though.
In either case I wouldn't recommend thinning your hair. I tried that years ago and it looked awful when my hair was growing back in.
Be happy that you have thick hair, because in time it will start to thin on its own and you will still have a nice head of hair.
